Colin Newman has been a significant volunteer in Darwin over many years.

Colin was twice Chairman of the NT Olympic Committee to raise money for Olympians

He was an NT Member for the Miss Australia Awards which raised funds for the Handicapped Persons Association

Colin was a Councillor for the Royal Darwin Show for six years.

He was Senior Vice President of the Australasian American Association raising $60,000 to pay for the B52 to come to Darwin which is now housed in the Darwin Aviation Museum.

Colin was a Committee Member which successfully convinced the Federal Government to allocate money to build a new Darwin Airport Terminal
