William (Bill) ROY

A sa resident of Pearl Retirement Resort, Bill has enhanced the lives of not only Pearl residents both within the Village and the supported Care Facility, but many other people in the wider community with his musical/singing group, The Pearlers. Bill founded this group which has an extensive level of community support and they continue to entertain the elderly, sick and infirm throughout Darwin and the Top End.

Bill has a unique ability to connect with all who attend and appreciate his many functions and performances with his 'tailor-made lyrics and songs as well as the large repertoire of songs from all ages.

Bill also entertains as a soloist and assists with various functions including being instrumental in raising funds for various charities, including the Cancer Council's 'Biggest Morning Tea'

"Music and humour is such an important part of the resident's lives," says Bill "and it plays an important role in the things we do."

An example of this is Bill's 'Singo Bingo’, a very entertaining facet of his performances and a lot of fun for everyone who join in.

Bill is also happy to auction off items, sell raffle tickets and organise a range of entertaining games to raise funds for a range of community causes.

Bill Roy is a delightful character, always has a smile upon his face, a few good jokes and a genuine interest in everyone he meets.
