DAVID ARTHUR CUNNINGTON

David was an active member of Tiwi Preschool Committee for three years while his two children attended.
Through 1978 -1993, David was the founding member of the Suzuki 4WD Club and held every position on the committee over 10 years. In February 2020 David volunteered to assist with organising the 45 year reunion for the Suzuki 4WD Club that was to be held in June 2020 but has unfortunately been postponed due to COVIDI9.
David has been an active Committee Member of Life Education NT since 1986 to current. Over the years David has towed the van from remote locations, undertaken repairs and assisted in Fundraising for Life Education NT.
In July 2009, David was recognized nationally when he won the Bruce Gyngel Award in recognition for his 23 years of outstanding service.
David was also a founding member and team engineer for Beat the Heat (NT), an Anti-Street Racing strategy aimed at reducing and controlling illegal street racing. David was instrumental in procuring and developing The Heat', securing sponsorship and equipment and fundraising to establish and maintain the initiative.
David has been a friend of the Darwin Hospice since 2009 and even assisted his partner Helen with fundraising activities. In fact, in 2009 - 2010 David worked with the Sorensen family to raise funds for the Hospice through the Beat The Heat 'John Sorensen Memorial Night'.
More recently David assisted with framing exhibits and assembling display boards at the Tree of Life Exhibition at the Malak Community Centre.
In 2018 David volunteered at Nightcliff Bowls Club during National and local Carnivals. He was also up bright and early to help his neighbours clear debris after Cyclone Marcus.
