Eileen Boocock - Alice Springs
Eileen Boocock has volunteered with the Alice Springs Womens Service, Crisis Accommodation every week for many years delivering Pastoral Care to those ladies who find themselves in such circumstances and desirous of Pastoral assistance.
Eileen is a dynamic and capable person and gives the best of herself personally and professionally.
Her weekly visits to the shelter have been highly valued by the many women who attend as clients. Eileen will sit in prayer with those seeking to pray and comforts those in need of consolation.
This aspect of Eileen's work has held great meaning for the ladies who have so often spoken of how much her visits have meant to them. Eileen never leaves the Shelter without accommodating all those who wish to talk and or pray with her.
Eileen's strong loyalty and devotion to the community is seen in this and other areas of her volunteering commitments.
Outside of the Shelter, Eileen is a regular worshiper at the Anglican Church of the Ascension. Along with others, she volunteers as the church's "Welcomer, greeting all who come to worship. She is a reader of the Scriptures during services and assists with serving morning tea at the conclusion of services.
Eileen also imparts her flair in floral arranging by decorating the main sanctuary with beautiful flower arrangements. She is also there to help with decorating the Angel Tree at Christmas, under-which gifts are placed for the children of prisoners in the local goal.
Eileen is also an experienced Bridge player and volunteers weekly to coach new players to the game. Her competence, encouragement and patience makes learning this game, a real joy.
Over the years, Eileen has made and is still making significant voluntary contributions to her community. She goes about her business in a quiet, unostentatious manner, always there for those in need.
