Sue Hornick
Sue is a dedicated Community volunteer where, for the past 20 years she has committed herself to her Church and its Sunday School programs.
Sue has also been involved in the Palmerston Seniors organisation and through that group, has contributed in many ways providing, assistance and contributions with all other members to the wider community.
She has also worked tirelessly each year in response to assistance and gifts for children overseas through the 'Samaritan's Purse', a Christian organisation that takes its name from the Biblical story of the Good Samaritan.
Samaritan's Purse in Australia has been doing emergency relief since 1995. Some of the projects include providing life-saving clean water, food, medicines, educational and vocational training, agriculture and livelihood programs and Operation Christmas Child where a contributor fills a shoe box with gifts for children who have little or nothing.
Sue is always ready with a helping hand for those in the community who have mobility problems and is ever ready to assist with other tasks that may need doing.
Art Natters' is a program of weekly arts and crafts that Sue co-ordinates for seniors. She is also involved in crocheting ANGELS to give to people within the community who are morning the loss of a loved one.
And after all of that, Sue still finds time to serve as an Elder on the Palmerston Uniting Church.
Sue is another shining example of a citizen who cares and puts so much voluntary effort into her community.
We acknowledge Sue's wonderful examples of caring for those less well-off and are proud to acknowledge her today as a Senior Of Excellence NT.
