Maxine Way
Maxine arrived in Darwin in 1976 with her first husband and 2-year-old daughter. Like so many people we came to assist with the rebuilding of Darwin after Cyclone Tracy and like so many never left.
In 1991, Maxine then moved to Howard Springs with my second husband and 1-year old son. After a 10-year career in the Commonwealth Public Service Maxine undertook an Associate Diploma in Fashion Technology from Northern Territory University graduating in 1996.
She spent 1997 as the Graduate in Residence at NTU designing and manufacturing 2 menswear collections which were presented at fashion parades at the wharf and the Karawa Restaurant at the CDU campus in
Palmerston.
Maxine returned to the Fashion Department at CDU as a lecturer from 2005 -2007. Since 1996 she has provided tailoring services to Police Fire & Emergency Services.
After the loss of her husband in July 2020, Maxine has been practising retirement from my part time despatch clerk position at Spotlight, focusing on managing my life without him. She is currently keeping busy by tending our 5 acre property.
The Howard Springs Volunteer Fire Brigade has been a part of her life since 1998 and contributes greatly to my wellbeing. Maxine has also taken up social lawn bowls at Humpty Doo Bowls Club which provides much needed social interaction and fun.
Maxine has also undertaken numerous NT Fire and Rescue Service Training
