Ron also has a rare blood type, 0 negative and gave regular donation to Red Cross until he was 65 and no longer permitted to donate. Ron spent time as President for the Darwin Rifle Club, Darwin Bowls Club and Coconut Grove Seniors. In each instance, Ron applied for Government grants to purchase equipment such as computers and in the case of Coconut Seniors, he purchased a large TV and trolley which the club used to show movies and Bingo.
Ron also ran the Golden Oldies for a year or so. When Ron turned 65, he joined Red Cross and has been doing voluntary work, three mornings a week for the past 19 years and still continues on in this role.
There are several aged women who often need assistance. It doesn't matter if the task is simply changing a light bulb or helping with heavy boxes, Ron is always there when asked. This saves them money and more importantly, they do not have to wait for assistance
Ron has never received remuneration for any of his voluntary assistance. He is a valued member of his community and is gratefully appreciated whenever he responds to help someone out.
Ron. Your efforts are typical of people who care. We warmly welcome you to our family with your NT Seniors Of Excellence Award.
