Peet came to Darwin from Sydney in 1976 to take up a role as the Transport Maintenance Supervisor involved in road-train design and braking systems.
Peet was instrumental in designing a braking system which was adapted for use in road-trains Territory wide. He also designed a tail light/side light system for road trains which has also been adopted.
From 1994 - 1999 Peet volunteered as the Government Liaison Officer of the NT Road Transport Association.
These days, Peet volunteers in all of the following organisations;
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics
• An Executive Committee Member of the NT Road Transport Association
• President of the Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club Inc. NT from 2007 ongoi▪ ng
• Member of the Technical Advisory Committee, NT Dept of Transport 2014 — ongoing
