Peter May
From: Anula
Nominated by Mrs Kate Worden MLA
Seconded by Sue Condon
Peter arrived in Darwin with his wife Mary in January 1971 and they have been involved in the Sanderson area for over 40 years.
After working for Telstra for 38 years, mostly in the NT, Peter retired and now works voluntarily for seniors and the community in the NT.
Peter has a reputation as a great neighbor as he has all the tools and equipment to help with small jobs and is always willing to help out.
Peter is currently the Vice President of the Evergreens Seniors Club NT, is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee for seniors and an active member of the Sanderson' Men's Group who meet each week for morning tea and a chin wag on Thursday at 10am at the Sanderson Electorate Office. He is passionate about keeping seniors engaged and active, ensuring they maintain their health so they can give back to the community.
The Evergreens Club NT is his main passion and focus. This club has been entertaining and keeping seniors involved in the community since 1989. The club provides a place for seniors to meet new friends and enjoy their senior years and maybe travel to new and exciting places. They meet twice a month and Peter never misses a meeting or an opportunity to be involved.
Peter helps organize these meetings and activities and often sources sponsorship to ensure the cost of participating is within the reach of every senior. He is a great ambassador for the group and uses every opportunity to get new people interested and involved.
