Dr Jan Hills - Batchelor
Jan Hills is a woman of vision. She has extensive ability, knowledge and an unstoppable drive in the many things she does. Her historical knowledge and involvement in the Top End is widely regarded.
In recent years, Jan's focus has centered upon the Batchelor region. Here, she initiated the Batchelor Museum Development Project that involved the rebuilding and renovation of two old 1950 houses to accommodate the museum. Jan's inspiration and vision is evident in the talent and expertise she has delivered as the Curator of the Batchelor Museum. Today the center is a fascinating venue through which future generations of locals and visitors alike, will learn and enjoy the region's fascinating history.
The excellent Batchelor Historical Walk signs that showcase the area's historical landmarks and buildings of the past 100 years or so, were also written and designed by Jan. Jan is also a committed supporter of the arts community in the Top End including the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, The Darwin Chorale.
