Mary Fox
Mary Fox has lived and worked in Darwin and Palmerston for 54 years. She is married with two daughters who work in Education as a Senior Teacher and an Administrative Officer. Both have children of their own.
Mary has worked tirelessly as a volunteer in the Community, especially in Little Athletics, The Arts and The Pacific School Games. Other activities include the Darwin Clay Target Assn, The Bougainvillea Festival and environmental groups.
Mary has been involved in a long list of stage productions from 2000 to 2010. Among them as Production Manager for Les Miserables; Beat Awards Night; Fidler On The Roof; Darwin Chorale & Australian Army Band's, Stage and Screen Spectacular; Stage Manager for Primary Schools' Story/Dance `Wakakirri'; Darwin Chorale's, Verdi Requiem; Cantar Timor; Sound of Music; For 'Tracks' Lipstick and Ochre; and other including; Endurance; Cinderella; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Merry Widow....just to name a few.
Other Community involvement includes as President/ Secretary/Board Member of 'Healthy Living NT'; as President/Secretary/ Board Member of Darwin Theatre Company; as President/Council Member/Adjudicator's Assistant of The North Australian Eisteddfod Council; on Production Committee of Superstar Productions; and on Production Committee of The Australian Council for the Arts.
Producer/Director of The Beat', massed performances involving 1500 students as choristers, actors, dancers and musicians.
Producer, co-ordinating Opening and Closing ceremonies Pacific School Games involving over 5000 students and artists/performers.
European Council of International Schools - Team member working on evaluation of organisations applying to join.
In 1995 Mary was the recipient of a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship for her contribution to the community through The Beat program, Education and the Arts
In 2001 Mary was Territorian of the Year for services to Education and Performing Arts.
Certainly, an amazing career, much of it voluntary and another amazing example of an incredible Territorian. It is with much Pleasure and delight we welcome Mary as a 2021 Senior Of Excellence NT.
