They drove a 1950 Daimler Saloon which was a car especially brought into Australia for the Royal visit around that time. As it was a 'Royal car, Nan dressed as the Queen and they had a stuffed Corgi named 'Windsor' on the back parcel shelf. In the years they participated in the Outback Territory Cruise, they raised a total of $1.5 million dollars for Camp Quality.
In recent years while Ray has been seriously ill in Royal Darwin Hospital, the Darwin Probus Club provided welfare checks on him. Following his hospital stay, Ray felt that he would like to give back to Probus for the care they had shown to him. When the Palmerston Combined Probus Club began in 2012, Ray immediately offered to look after the Guest Speakers and arrange tours for them.
In 2014 and 2015, Ray held the position of President of the Palmerston Combined Probus Club. Following his two year service as President, he continued to arrange Guest Speakers and the tours for them.
